It acts as a protective device, the function is the same as the pipe plug. Both of them can prevent dirt, dust, moisture, liquids and any other contaminants from entering the opening.

Butt weld pipe cap
Butt weld pipe cap is made from steel plate which complies with ASME B16.9 standard. It is used for large diameter pipes, and directly welded to the end of the pipe to create a permanent seal. BW cap ends in beveled or plain. And we usually use coating of primer and galvanizing on the butt weld cap against rust.
Socket weld pipe cap
Socket weld pipe cap is suitable for serving small diameter pipes, which complies with the standard of ASME B16.11 MSS-SP-79、MSS-SP-95、BS 3799.. It belongs to the best quality pipe fittings because it has a beautiful appearance and good mechanical properties. And it is designated as Class 3000, 6000, and 9000.
Threaded pipe Cap
Threaded pipe cap is an internally threaded pipe fitting, and is connected to the externally threaded pipe end. It is usually suitable for connecting small diameter pipes which are below 4 inches.
