Pipe elbow Manufacture : Various specifications.

Pipe elbow is a kind of very common pipe fittings. But there are many specifications, sizes, and materials available. As a manufacturer, we can provide the most comprehensive products, in the shortest possible construction period.

  • Different materials, such as carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, etc.

  • Different diameters and wall thicknesses for pipe elbows

  • Different specifications of pipe elbows

  • We are best at pushing elbows and welding elbows

What is Elbow?

Pipe elbow is a type of pipe fittings that allows the flow of fluids or gasses to change direction in piping systems. It has the characteristics of pressure resistance, corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance, which can effectively ensure the safety and stability of the pipeline.

At the same time, the pipe elbow can connect two pipes with the same or different nominal diameters, and to make the pipe and thus the fluid direction turn to a certain direction of 45 degree or 90 degree. In piping systems, it is a key part used in various industries, including water, oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, power, HVAC and more.

Pipe elbow can be made of different materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy steel etc.. The choice of material depends on the project design and the fluid being transported in piping systems. For example, carbon steel pipe elbow is mainly used in medium and low pressure pipelines for general purposes; Stainless steel pipe elbow is widely used for transporting corrosive fluids in piping systems; Alloy steel pipe elbow is usually used for pipelines with high temperature and high pressure.

Applications

  • Natural gas pipeline

  • Oil pipeline

  • Chemical Pipeline

  • HVAC Piping

Technical Specifications

Pipe elbow has many sizes no matter for carbon steel or stainless steel. The following information is just about their sizes and tolerances.

As per body materials: Elbow type

Carbon steel pipe elbow

Carbon steel pipe elbow has high hardness and wear and tear properties. The common materials refer to 20#, Q235, Q235A, Q235B, 20G, 16Mn, ASTM A234WPB, ASTM A105, etc. This kind of pipe elbows are usually used for middle and low pipelines at normal temperature.

Stainless steel pipe elbow

Stainless steel pipe elbow has higher strength and higher corrosion-resistances than carbon steel pipe elbow. The common materials refer to 304/304L, 316/316L, 321/321L etc. This kind of pipe elbows are mainly used in the pipelines of corrosion fluid.

Alloy steel pipe elbow

Alloy steel pipe elbow, its materials are alloy steel pipes or steel plates, which is specially used for the pipelines taken at high temperature and high pressure. So alloy elbows are often used in specific engineering projects that transport special gases and fluids.

As per fluid directions: pipe elbow type

90 degree pipe elbow

90 degree pipe elbow is the most used type in all the piping systems, since it is easy to be compatible with steel construction and structural. It is to change the direction of the fluids or gasses by 90 degrees, also known as the vertical elbow.

45 degree pipe elbow

45 degree pipe elbow is the second commonly used type in piping systems. It is installed between two pipes to change the pipe direction by 45 degrees. Due to it creating lower frictional resistance, the pressure is also lower.

180 degree pipe elbow

A 180 degree steel pipe elbow is a type of pipe fitting that helps to change the direction of the fluids or gasses by 180 degree. Since it usually causes low pressure, its applications are limited to minimum deposition and low turbulence systems.

As per elbow length and radius

Short radius pipe elbow

Short radius pipe elbow (SR elbow) has a radius equal to the pipe diameter (Center-to-Face dimension of 1.0 X diameter ). It is commonly used for low pressure and low speed pipelines or in tight spaces where the flow needs to change direction quickly.

Long radius pipe elbow

Long radius pipe elbow (LR elbow) has a radius which is larger than pipe diameter (Center-to-Face dimension of 1.5 X diameter). It is commonly used for high pressure and high flow rate pipelines or in applications where a smooth flow transition is required.

As per connections types: Pipe Elbow Type

Butt welded elbow

Butt welded elbow is the most common type of connection where the end of the elbow is welded directly to the end of the pipe. It is mainly used in situations where the pressure and temperature are higher than socket welded elbow or threaded elbow.

Socket welded elbow

Socket welded elbow is suitable for small diameter piping. The actual diameter of the socket welded elbow end is larger than the elbow diameter because it has a ladder area, which makes the welding process of small diameter elbows and pipes much easier.

Threaded elbow

Threaded elbow is easy to install. It is similar to socket welded elbow, the difference is that the inner surface of the ladder area has been machined in a threaded style, making it easier to install and remove, which is conducive to pipe repair and maintenance.

Quality Assurance

1) The manufacturer must first ensure the material of the pipe elbow. Strictly adhere to the chemical composition requirements of standard materials. This may seem simple, but many manufacturers cannot guarantee it.

2) Manufacturers should follow standard production processes. The backward stamping process makes it difficult to ensure uniform wall thickness. Our factory adopts the push process and the large diameter adopts the butt welding process.

3) A comprehensive testing process. Appearance inspection mainly checks whether there are defects on the surface of the elbow. Non destructive testing mainly detects whether there are cracks, pores, and other defects inside the elbow. To ensure the qualification rate of the product.

4) The elbow is marked with material, size, trademark, etc. and shipped in wooden boxes. Large size elbows are individually packaged.
